Denver-based UP Aerospace on April 5 conducted its 10th suborbital launch from New Mexico’s Spaceport America, lofting experimental payloads from three U.S. government agencies and setting a new local altitude record, according to a New Mexico Spaceport Authority press release.
UP Aerospace’s SpaceLoft XL rocket lifted off at 8:18 a.m. local time and reached an altitude of 117 kilometers, the highest a rocket launched from Spaceport America has flow, according to the release. The launch was not announced ahead of time and closed to spectators at request of UP Aerospace, the release said.
The primary payloads were Department of Defense experiments. Additional payloads were carried for NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration and the University of Texas, according to the release.
