The Task Group is co-chaired by retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. and Apollo commander, Thomas Stafford, and Covey, a former Space Shuttle commander. The group is making an independent assessment of NASA’s implementation of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board Space Shuttle Return to Flight recommendations. The Group will report results to NASA at appropriate intervals and provide a final report approximately one month before the Space Shuttle returns to flight.
