Recent findings about the fundamental properties of
rapidly spinning pulsars, from observations using NASA’s
Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer, will be the topic of the next
Space Science Update (SSU). The SSU is at 1 p.m. EDT,
Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in the James E. Webb Auditorium at
NASA Headquarters, 300 E Street S.W., Washington.
Panelists include:
- Dr. Deepto Chakrabarty, assistant professor of physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass.
- Dr. Rudy Wijnands, research and teaching fellow, University of St. Andrews, Scotland
- Dr. Lars Bildsten, professor of physics, University of California, Santa Barbara, Calif.
- Dr. Barry Barish, professor of physics, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena
- Dr. Anne Kinney, director of astronomy and physics, NASA Headquarters, Washington
The SSU will be carried live on NASA Television with two-way
question-and-answer capability for reporters covering the
event from participating NASA centers.
NASA Television is broadcast on AMC-2, transponder 9C, C-
Band, located at 85 degrees west longitude. The frequency is
3880.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical, and audio is monaural
at 6.8 MHz.
