“NASA’s Vision and Mission “Moving Onward and Upward” is the theme of the American Astronautical Society’s 41st Goddard Memorial Symposium, to be held March 25-26 at the Greenbelt Marriott Hotel, Greenbelt, Md.
The conference will provide a forum for managers, engineers, scientists and policy makers to hear first hand from senior NASA and industry leaders about the direction in which the Agency is moving and what it may mean to stakeholders in industry, government, academia and the science community.
NASA Associate Administrator for Aerospace Technology Dr. Jerry Creedon will provide the kick-off keynote address, discussing the role of technology in binding together the Agency’s mission. NASA Space Architect Gary Martin will provide the second day keynote address, which focuses on the Agency’s long-term strategy for space.
Featured luncheon speakers are Dr. Vance Coffman, Chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation, who will be presented with the AAS 2002 Industrial Leadership Award, and Carl Fischer, Vice President and General Manager of Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Division.
Four technical sessions, two each day, will provide a comprehensive look at the overall NASA mission, concluding March 26 with a special student session devoted to exploring aerospace careers that support the execution of NASA missions.
News media are welcome to attend the technical sessions free of charge. The complete conference program and on-line registration is available at: www.astronautical.org
