NASA’s Educator Astronaut Program (EAP) invites
students, educators and parents to join the Earth Crew and
interact with NASA in projects and missions. Earth Crew
members meet NASA astronauts and employees, learn what
astronauts do, what it’s like to live in space, and discover
how space exploration affects lives here on Earth.

Earth Crew is an exciting, interactive Web-based program
that links participants with space-related educational
activities. Earth Crew members can join in activities and
NASA missions via the Educator Astronaut Web site. Members
can help organize potential experiments and activities for
Educator Astronauts. The current Earth Crew mission is to
send in original artwork showing how astronauts help people
on Earth through activities in space. Several pieces of
artwork will be posted in the Earth Crew Gallery in honor of
the Columbia crew.

The EAP is recruiting teachers to become permanent members
of NASA’s Astronaut Corps. To date, the program has received
more than 6,200 teacher nominations. Earth Crew members and
the public are encouraged to nominate teachers. The EAP
application deadline is April 30, 2003.
