NSS is proud to announce that, effective December 1, Brian Chase will
become the Executive Director of the National Space Society.
Chase currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S.
Congressman Dave Weldon. He is responsible for managing the Congressman’s
Florida offices and serves as the principal liaison to District 15
constituents, state and local elected officials, and business and community
leaders. He is also serving as the Congressman’s Campaign Manager for the
2002 election. Chase joined Weldon’s office in July 1999 as his District
Director and was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff this summer.
Chase worked previously for Weldon in his Washington office from 1995
until 1998, where he served as Press Secretary and senior policy adviser on
space, science, transportation, and trade issues. Prior to rejoining
Weldon’s office, Chase worked in Houston, Texas, managing United Space
Alliance’s state relations, strategic communications, and marketing
communications efforts.
Chase began his career as a program analyst for the International
Space Station Program and held positions at NASA’s Johnson Space Center and
later at NASA Headquarters before moving to Capitol Hill. He holds a
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
The legislative, political, and space policy experience that our new
Executive Director brings to the table will be instrumental in shaping the
NSS political agenda in 2003. Please join us in welcoming Brian Chase into
the NSS family.
