Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems of Tewksbury, Mass., said Nov. 15 the U.S. Army had awarded it a $20.5 million foreign military sales contract to provide spare parts to support a planned upgrade of Kuwait’s Patriot air defense and anti-ballistic missile batteries.
The sole-source contract, awarded by the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., calls for essential parts to support sustainment of Kuwait’s Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC)-3 radar systems. Raytheon said in a press release that the planned upgrades include improved detection of small targets in a cluttered environment, enhanced ability to identify tactical ballistic missile warheads and expanded area of defense.
Raytheon will perform the work at the Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Mass.
