The U.S. Air Force has awarded Harris Government Communication Systems of Palm Bay, Fla., a contract modification worth $13.7 million for work on the service’s offensive and defensive counterspace ground systems, according to a Jan. 31 announcement from the Pentagon.
Specifically, Harris will support the Space Superiority Directorate with operational offensive counterspace and defensive counterspace ground systems at the Space and Missile Systems Center in Los Angeles.
The aim of the Space Superiority Directorate is to guarantee space superiority for the United States.
Sleighton Meyer, a spokesman for Harris Government Communication, referred questions to the Air Force.
The work is expected to be completed by Jan. 31, 2015.
