NASA’s Strategic Direction and the Need for a National Consensus, a new report from the National Research Council, assesses whether NASA’s 2011 Strategic Plan remains viable and whether the agency’s activities and organization efficiently and effectively support that direction. The report also recommends how NASA could establish and communicate a common, unifying vision for the agency’s strategic direction that encompasses many varied missions.
Study committee chair Albert Carnesale, chancellor emeritus and professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, will discuss the report’s findings and recommendations during a one-hour telephone news briefing starting at 11:30 a.m. EST Wednesday, Dec. 5.
