What: NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will celebrate the easy-as-ABC way to living green April 21 in honor of Earth Day. This year’s theme is “Sustainability,” with the slogan, “Living Green: Easy as ABC.” The festivities will include opening ceremonies and a tree-planting. An environmental expo will feature more than 40 local vendors who will talk with employees about new environmental practices and give out eco-friendly products. Free tree seedlings also will be provided by Wallace State Community College.

Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Bldg. 4200 on the southwest side.
NASA and USAID to Sign Formal Agreement With Worldwide Benefits Media are invited to witness NASA and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) sign a formal agreement promoting collaboration that can lead to worldwide science and technology solutions to address such challenges as global health, climate change, food security, and disaster mitigation and response.
The event will take place in the NASA Headquarters auditorium on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2 p.m. Also featured will be a presentation on the SERVIR and LAUNCH programs. In addition to the signing ceremony and briefings, there will be a question and answer session with invited students from area high schools, colleges and universities.

LAUNCH is a global initiative to identify and support the innovative work poised to contribute to a sustainable future and accelerate solutions to meet urgent challenges facing our society.
NASA, USAID, Department of State, and NIKE joined together to form LAUNCH in an effort to identify, showcase and support innovative approaches to global challenges through a series of forums. LAUNCH searches for visionaries, whose world-class ideas, technologies or programs show great promise for making tangible impacts on society.
