What: NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will be honored by the Alabama Legislature with the reading of a resolution honoring the achievements of NASA’s Marshall Center in space exploration. Marshall’s Acting Center Director Gene Goldman has been invited to address a joint session of the Alabama Legislature, which will be followed by the reading of the resolution commending the Marshall Center as an engine of economic development, the anchor of the aerospace industry in North Alabama, and for employing almost 6,000 government and contractor personnel in unique and specialized facilities and laboratories. In addition, Goldman will meet with Legislators and Governor Bentley.
NASA exhibits — representing the technical and scientific contributions of the Marshall Center — will be on display.
NASA astronaut T.J. Creamer, who lived and worked aboard the International Space Station as a flight engineer and NASA science officer on Expedition 22/23 from December 2009 to June 2010, also will be available to answer questions about his experiences.
Goldman will be available to speak with the news media following the joint legislative session.

When: 8:45 a.m. CDT, Thursday, May 3 – State lawmakers will present a resolution on the floor of the Alabama Legislature honoring the Marshall Center for achievements in space exploration.
8:50 a.m. CDT – Acting Marshall Center Director Gene Goldman will address a joint session of the Alabama Legislature.
9:30 a.m. – Goldman will be available to speak with the news media on the State House steps.
8 a.m.-2 p.m. – NASA exhibits will be available for viewing by the public on the sixth floor of the State House.
