HOUSTON – NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman will be the featured guest at Dewberry Farm on Saturday, Oct. 1. During his visit, Wiseman will speak to guests about NASA,s future, support a question-and-answer session and sign autographs for guests.
Dewberry is located at 7705 FM 362 in Brookshire, Texas. Events begin at 1 p.m.
Additionally, a NASA exhibits booth will be available throughout the weekend, Oct. 1-2, to handout education and outreach materials to guests visiting the farm. All events are open to the media.
Dewberry Farm is one of seven "Space Farms" around the country that chose to honor NASA and the 50th anniversary of human spaceflight with their 2011 corn maze design. Using themes highlighting each region’s contribution to NASA, the farms are open to the public and feature space-related educational games and activities.
Wiseman is a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Johns Hopkins University, Wiseman was selected as part of the 2009 Astronaut Candidate Training Class. He reported to the Johnson Space Center in August 2009 and completed astronaut candidate training in May 2011. Wiseman is currently assigned as an International Space Station capsule communicator, known as capcom, in the Mission Control Center in Houston. As capcom, he communicates directly with the crew living and working aboard the space station.
