11th Annual University of Nebraska Washington, D.C. Space Law Conference: “Intersections of Commercial and National Security Space”

The University of Nebraska College of Law’s 11th Annual Washington D.C. Space Law Conference, “Intersections of Commercial and National Security Space,” will be held at the National Press Club on September 21st from 10:30AM-5:00PM. The conference is co-Sponsored by the American Society of International Law (ASIL) and the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA) Space Law Committee.
Panel topics include commercial space law reform, cyber threats to satellites, and military operations in space, as well as “big ideas” talks from the Chief of Staff of the Space Subcommittee of the House Science Committee and the NASA Associate General Counsel for Commercial & Intellectual Property.
This conference is CLE certified in Nebraska. Certificate provided for other jurisdictions. Press is welcome at this event and there is a presumption that statements are on the record, however please be aware that in the past some speakers have requested to speak off the record.

The evening before the conference, Thursday, September 20, 2018 Nebraska Law will be hosting a Women’s Happy Hour. Nebraska Law’s Women’s Initiative events and the “New! Now. Next?” Acceleration Academies are expanding rapidly including partnering with Ms. JD. The Initiative’s purpose is to provide career development support and services to female attorneys in the Midwest. Nebraska Law invites women in the D.C. area who practice in the areas of aerospace, defense, and technology to join Elsbeth Magilton (Executive Director of the Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications Law Program) and Dean Molly Brummond (Asst Dean for Student & Alumni Relations and Creator of the Nebraska Law Women’s Initiative) to learn about what we’re doing in the Midwest, provide feedback and insight, and of course network with other professional women in these unique fields. Men are welcome and encouraged to attend.
