Longmont, Colo.-based DigitalGlobe said Jan. 4 that its newest high-resolution satellite, WorldView-2, has achieved full operational capability and that its imagery is now commercially available.
WorldView-2 was launched Oct. 8, 2009, aboard a Delta 2 rocket, joining DigitalGlobe’s existing submeter-resolution satellites QuickBird and WorldView-1.
DigitalGlobe told investors in November that the commissioning of WorldView-2 would double the company’s collection capacity to more than 500 million square kilometers per year.
