Today is NASA’s Day of Remembrance, a day designated to honor those NASA employees who lost their lives “while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery.”

Ranking Member Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) issued the following statement:

“NASA’s annual Day of Remembrance is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by American men, women, and their families in the pursuit of space exploration. Today we honor the crews of the Columbia and Challenger space shuttles and Apollo 1, a tribute particularly noteworthy this year, the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 1 accident. I am so grateful to the entire NASA family for their contributions to our country.”
