HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Peggy Hueter, formerly of Arab, Ala., has received a Federal Women’s Program 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., in commemoration of Women’s Equality Day for outstanding clerical achievement in performing her responsibilities proactively and professionally in a precise manner.
Hueter is a management support assistant for the Resource Management Office in the Marshall Center’s Engineering Directorate. Appointed to the position in 2004, she oversees the manager’s schedule and provides clerical support to the organization.
The Federal Women’s Program 2011 Outstanding Achievement Awards recognize federal employees in four categories — professional, administrative, supervisory and clerical — for exceptional service to the Marshall Center and the U.S. space program. Women’s Equality Day is commemorated each year on Aug. 26 by proclamation of the president of the United States to honor women gaining the right to vote.
Hueter and three other honorees received their awards Aug. 16 during Marshall’s Annual Honor Awards Ceremony where the center honored those who made significant achievements to NASA’s mission at an agency level.
Hueter began her NASA career in 1988 as a secretary for the assistant director for management in the former Science & Engineering Directorate. Prior to a break in service to raise her children, she was a secretary at the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville.
Her awards during her NASA career include a Silver Snoopy award in 2002 for outstanding contributions to the human spaceflight program, and a Space Flight Honoree Award in 2007 for dedication to quality work and flight safety. Hueter also is the recipient of Outstanding Performance, Special Service and Sustained Superior Performance awards.
Hueter and her husband live in Huntsville and have two daughters.
